LCD Monitor Video Signal - 2 Problems That Can Affect Your Monitor's Signal Quality

Video signal problems can usually (and logically) be traced back to the video card itself. If you're seeing ghosting or smearing, it is because of 2 reasons:
  • Video Cable: Either a poor quality cable or an extension cable that's too long
  • Video Card (graphic card): Either a bad video card, or the card and monitor running too close to their maximum bandwidths
A faulty video card driver can also cause image distortions but that's a software defect that can be fixed by upgrading the driver.

Make sure you get the latest drivers from the manufacturer's site to eliminate monitor video signal problems related to outdated drivers.

Remember that if a LCD monitor has gone bad, it will produce muddy, discolored images.
