As long as the LCD panel itself is not damaged, most LCD monitor problems can be repaired electronically, or through component replacement (like capacitors, transformers or power board fixes)
Even scratches or a star-burst pattern on the screen can be repaired – but broken glass or dark areas on the screen can't be fixed.
In the latter case, screen replacement is the only practical option.
